Student Achievements   

    The William James Middle School chess team won the ORSCA Middle School REGION Chess Title.

    At the Bulloch County Middle School Write-Off, the 6th grade won the overall grade level plaque for the competition.  Individual place winners listed by grade level and category are below.

    WJMS students won the GSU/Bulloch county art contest celebrating 100 years of being united.  The winners had their artwork on display at GSU during the Artsfest on Saturday, April 14th, as well as, displayed in the art building.

 
1st place: Sarah(6th) ...$200 savings bond and winning T-shirt design
2nd place: Carter(7th)......$100 savings bond
3rd place:  Ijuwon(6th).....$50 savings bond

    The WJMS 6th grade math team won the Penny Sikes Math Tournament held at SEBHS with Stanley winning 1st place in the individual competition.

    Congratulations to the golf team for winning the 2007 Coastal Region Empire Championship.

    Three students placed in the 4-H District Project Achievement on Saturday March 24.  Students won 1st place in Performing Arts- Dance, Workforce Preparation and Development, and Public Speaking.

    Ben placed 1st in Robotics/Engineering and Ricky placed 1st in Physics for the WJMS Science Fair.  In the Georgia Engineering and Science Fair District Competition in Savannah, GA Ricky placed 1st in Physics and won honors and scholarships from Discovery and Gulf Stream Aero Space where he will compete in their forums.  Ricky won 2nd place in the STATE Georgia Engineering and Science Fair for Physics & Astronomy.

Congratulations to the Boy's Track team for earning the 2007 Region Championship!!    

    Valerie and Rheann represented William James Middle School in the 2007 All-State Chorus.  They performed at the Savannah Civic Center in the Johnny Mercer Theater Sat. Feb. 24th. 

    Congratulations to Kwasie, Daffnie and Sabrina who performed in the 6th Grade Statewide Chorus this weekend.  They were part of a 260 member choir that performed for 1800 people.  Thanks to all three for representing William James Middle School and Bulloch County.

    Two 7th grade students, Rheann and Valerie, made All-State Chorus.  Valerie scored a 92 and Rheann scored a 95.  Both students will receive a special gold seal on their certificate for scoring in the 90%.  Congratulations to both!

    Thirty-nine WJMS Jr. Beta Club students competed with over 7,000 other Jr. Beta students from across the state in Macon on November 16 & 17th.  Ricky, an 8th grader, won 3rd place in Science Division II (8th and 9th graders).

    In the American Red Cross T-shirt and Calendar Design contest, WJMS students won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as several honorable mentions.  Erin, a 6th grader, won 1st place and will have have her design printed on T-shirts.  Jahlil, an 8th grader, won 2nd place, Shakia, a 7th grader, won 3rd place, and Charles, Jarquis, Jessica, Kayla, and Tasha won honorable mentions.  All of these students will have their designs published in the calendar.

    Mrs. Bole's and Mrs. Jackson's social studies classes won Most Informative Countryfor their Canada project at GSU's International Festival.

     Mrs. Prince's social studies classes won Best Country Overallfor their Nigeria project at GSU's International Festival.

   The WJMS Football Team was the 2006 Coastal Region Empire Champions.

    Two 7th grade students, Rheann and Valerie, made the 2nd audition for All-State Chorus.

    Two 8th grade students won the County-Wide Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest for Group III.  Timmy won 1st place and Mike won 2nd place.

    An 8th grade student, Melaina, was selected out of 160 students to be the soloist at Georgia Music Educators Association District 1 Honor Choir.  Lisa Muldrew, chorus teacher, is flute soloist.

    A 7th grade student, Sunny, was selected from among 616 other students in the state for an Honorable Mention in the 4-H Holiday card contest.

School Achievements

    WJMS ranked among the top 50 schools in the state on the Georgia Criterion-Referenced Test (CRCT) for 8th grade math scores.

    WJMS is a 2007 Distinguished Title I School.

    On the 2007 Georgia End-of-Course Test in Algebra I 100% of WJMS students exceeded the passing rate.
